Passive balancing generally discharges the battery with higher voltage through resistance discharge, releases electricity in the form of heat, and buys more charging time for other batteries. In this way, the power of the entire system is limited by the battery with the smallest capacity. During the charging process, lithium batteries generally have a charging upper limit protection voltage value. When a certain string of batteries reaches this voltage value, the lithium battery protection board will cut off the charging circuit and stop charging. If the voltage during charging exceeds this value, which is commonly known as "overcharge", the lithium battery may burn or explode. Therefore, the advantages of passive balancing are low cost and simple circuit design; while the disadvantages are that the balancing is based on the lowest battery residual amount, the capacity of the battery with less residual amount cannot be increased, and 100% of the balancing power is wasted in the form of heat. Lithium battery protection boards generally have overcharge protection functions to prevent battery overcharging.

When used for battery packs with less than 24 string cells in series, the empty pin is suspended.

When used for battery packs with a total voltage of less than 25V, an external DC power supply is required

EK-24S4EB supports cascading use, and at least one battery between every two equalizers is the "common end of energy exchange". The following uses the 32S as an example to describe how to install and connect cables:
